I know when my depression is starting to become uncontrollable, I start making excuses why I can not be near people, why I can't make appointments. There is no concrete reason, I just feel I can't manage being around people and want to be solitary. That is fine for a day or two but when you find you have done it for 3 months and have just sunk further and further, you need to work with yourself to improve your health.
